LUCA GIARDINI

He studied modern violin in Milan and Lugano, with Carlo Chiarappa, and then specialized in the performance of the violin repertoire of the 17th – 19th centuries, with Catherine Mackintosh, Monica Huggett, Nicolette Moonen, Peter Hanson and Anton Steck.

He collaborated with important groups such as Europa Galante, Accademia Bizantina, Il Giardino Armonico, Complesso Barocco, Ensemble Zefiro, Modo Antiquo, Ensemble Concerto, Il Rossignolo, Aglaia, Musica Antiqua Latina, La Venexiana, I Barocchisti, Orchestra of The Age of Enlightenment, The Bach Ensemble, Al Ayre Espanol, Ensemble Matheus, La Cetra-Basel, Marini Consort-Innsbruck, Ensemble Baroque de Limoges, Collegium 1704.

He is a member of the Albada Quartet. He worked with important soloists and directors, such as Simon Rattle, Frans Brüggen, Philippe Herreweghe, Cecilia Bartoli, Ian Bostridge or Giuliano Carmignola.

He has recorded for major record labels, such as Philips, Decca, Emi, Emi-Virgin, Harmonia Mundi, L’ Oiseau Lyre, Naxos, Brilliant Classics, Naïve, Hyperion, Stradivarius, Dynamic, and recorded for European, American and Asian radio and television.

He received several international awards: Grammy, Diapason d’ Or, Choc de la Musique, 10 de Répertoire, Premio Fondazione Cini – Venice, Premio Abbiati.

He teaches Baroque Violin at the Conservatory Bruno Maderna, in Cesena and at the Conservatory Arrigo Boito, in Parma.
